Paani Foundation

Paani Foundation is a non-profit, non-governmental organization which is active in the area of drought prevention and watershed management in the state of Maharashtra, India. The organization was founded by Indian actor Aamir Khan and his ex-wife, Kiran Rao.

The primary aim of Paani Foundation is to spread knowledge of watershed management and groundwater replenishment. Paani Foundation has been organizing the Satyamev Jayate Water Cup competition since 2016, where villages compete with each other to implement watershed management and water conservation methods in the summer months leading up to the monsoon season. Paani foundation carries steps to overcome the ill effects of droughts.

Eden Reforestation Projects

Eden Reforestation Project is one of the leading projects across various countries that suffer from deforestation's impacts. I found their projects very inspiring, and the scale at which they are doing the work is very impressive. I always admire good people joining forces for the greater good.

We highly recommend checking their work on their website and donating to their effort.

Rebulding Mangroves

This is a great project to save Senegal and Senegalese farmers. They have been planting millions of mangrove buds near the Casamance River to reforest the region. Mangrove forests are the greatest natural barrier against saltwater, it is a very diverse ecosystem, and it slows the desertification process. They also absorb huge amounts of carbon. This reforestation effort is led by many environmental organizations with help from locals.

Save Soil

Another great effort in the making is Save Soil effort by Sadhguru. This effort proposes three prong solution, which includes incentivizing farmers, carbon taxing, and de-incentivizing bad practices. They have done a massive reach-out campaign to raise awareness and met world leaders and environment ministers to enforce policies to save the soil's organic material and stop damaging the status quo any further. Since this effort is in its initial awareness state, we are following it closely to see how the solutions pan out over the years, and yes, we will be part of the solution and encourage others like you to be part of it here.
